In a rather incredible series of events that clearly demonstrates the tenuous nature of the film industry and the need to ally yourself with good people, some serious attention for my film "The Creep Behind the Camera" sprouted from one source - actress Meggie Maddock. Seriously. It seems that the Imagine Film Festival Amsterdam program directors had noted Meggie's amazing presence in a different film, checked out her credentials on IMDB, saw our listing and requested a screener. Two days later, I was approached by them to participate in their festival! All because of Meggie. This is entirely true, made even more special when considering the fact that we had only just wrapped the film and had not submitted to one festival.  Thanks to Meggie, then Amsterdam, we are now booked into three additional European fests.  At some point I need to start actually submitting! Many thanks to Meggie Maddock... you've saved us many film festival admission fees!

 

Additionally, when working with actors, specifically those of the female pursuasion, you hope to find that perfect combination of screen presence and acting ability.  You PRAY they're easy to work with because often when you get the first two, you get an unwanted bonus of attitude.  Meggie is a dream come true for the director and producer.  Amazing presence, haunting beauty, talent of the highest caliber, and easily the most energetic, positive and just plain sweetest people on the planet.  SO with Ms. Maddock you get the combo you need and you DO get attitude, but fortunately it's the kind you need.

It was brought to my attention that Denver, at the time, had a lovely young actress with great comedic timing by the name of Meggie Maddock. I was casting my feature film in Los Angeles, but was persuaded to audition Meggie in Denver and found her to be quite accomplished and a local treasure. I hired her on the spot.
